Korea’s National Tax Service operates a simple route for checking hidden or unclaimed tax refunds. If a refund exists but has not been claimed, the Hometax screen can guide you to a one-click application without paying a separate agency fee.

The one-click refund route is designed to help taxpayers find unclaimed money without extra paperwork

What the one-click application means

The service is intended for refunds that may have been missed because the taxpayer did not apply, did not register an account, or overlooked a deductible item. After logging in to Hometax, you can check the eligible amount and submit the application from the official screen.

The NTS system first checks whether there is an unclaimed refund.
The application is completed through Hometax after identity verification.
When approved, the refund is usually deposited into the registered bank account within several business days.
Using the official route avoids the commission charged by some third-party refund apps.

Use only the official Hometax route when entering tax and account information

How to apply on PC

Go to hometax.go.kr and log in.
Find the unclaimed refund or one-click refund application menu.
Check whether a refundable amount is displayed.
Enter a receiving bank account, or select an already registered account.
Submit the application and save the result screen for your records.

Who may need to check

This can be useful for employees who missed a deduction during year-end settlement, business owners who did not receive a VAT refund after closing, freelancers who overpaid withholding tax, or anyone who filed without applying all available credits.

If the result shows zero won, you may still need to review your May income tax filing separately

If the amount shows 0 won

A zero-won result means the NTS system has not identified an unclaimed refund through this menu. It does not always mean you can never receive a refund. If you are subject to comprehensive income tax filing, a refund may still arise after you file correctly in May.
