Hwangmaesan Royal Azalea Festival 2026: Bloom Timing, Parking, Shuttle, and Visit Tips

Hwangmaesan Royal Azalea Festival is one of Korea’s most searched spring flower trips because the mountain ridge turns pink at roughly 800 to 900 meters above sea level. The scenery is beautiful, but the visit is much easier when you check the festival period, bloom timing, parking, and shuttle route before leaving.

Festival period and bloom timing

The 30th Hwangmaesan Royal Azalea Festival is scheduled from May 1 to May 10, 2026. Food booths are planned for a longer period, from April 25 to May 17, so visitors around the main festival window may still find some on-site facilities operating.

According to the public park’s guidance, azaleas usually begin blooming in late April and reach their best viewing period from early May to around May 10. For 2026, an official notice said flowers had started to appear as of April 19, so the early-May holiday period is likely to draw the heaviest crowds.

Parking and shuttle route

General passenger cars can go up toward the upper parking area near the auto-camping site, while large buses normally use Deokman Parking Lot and connect by shuttle or taxi. During peak weekends, arriving late can mean long waiting times, so an early weekday visit is the safest plan.

The 2026 shuttle is scheduled to run on April 25–26, May 1–10, and May 16–17. The route connects Deokman Parking Lot with Ginkgo Tree Parking Lot, and the one-way fare is listed at 2,500 won. Because traffic can slow the route, allow extra time if you are visiting on a weekend afternoon.

What to bring

If you plan to stay for photos or use the picnic zone, a compact picnic mat is useful. Comfortable walking shoes also matter because even short mountain paths can feel tiring when the festival area is crowded.

Sun and temperature changes are easy to underestimate on a spring mountain ridge. Bring water, a hat, and sunscreen so the visit feels like a relaxed flower trip rather than a long wait under the sun.

Bottom line

The best strategy is simple: check the latest bloom notice, aim for a weekday morning if possible, confirm parking and shuttle information, and prepare for walking. That makes Hwangmaesan’s pink azalea ridge much easier to enjoy.
